Coláiste Naomh Cormac

Coláiste Naomh Cormac has a long tradition of providing a wide range of cultural, sporting and leisure activities. Coláiste Naomh Cormac encourages a spirit of involvement and participation as a positive experience in personal development. This variety of extra curricular activities affords the student the opportunity to represent the school at different levels in the activities of their choice, thereby facilitating confidence building and serving to provide a sense of achievement by excelling in a particular field.

As well as helping young people realise meaningful and worthwhile leisure pursuits, these activities help students to discover the value of teamwork, co-operation and participation. They also provide a vehicle through which initiative and leadership skills can be cultivated. Consequently all students are actively encouraged to participate in a wide range of extra curricular activities.

The following school sports or activities are available to students of Coláiste Naomh Cormac:
Athletics - Track and Field, Basketball, Camogie, Chess, Cross-Country, Gaelic Football, Hurling, Ladies Football, Soccer, Swimming and Volleyball.

Each year as well as participating in the sports, Coláiste Naomh Cormac has had considerable success in many sporting events.

Public speaking and debating are actively promoted as a means of students developing the ability to express themselves and to articulate their views. This year Coláiste Naomh Cormac experienced success in both the Annual Public Speaking competition organised by the Federation of Business and Professional Women and the Soroptomists International Public Speaking competition.

The Music Room is equipped with the most modern and up-to-date instruments where students are prepared for the State Examinations. Students compete in music competitions and have achieved All-Ireland success in the Scor Ballad Group, Instrumental Music and Solo Singing Awards. Many students have pursued music studies at Third Level institutions and have performed at National and International concerts and events. The school choir performs at liturgical functions both at the school and in the parish.
